A Horse Defends His Master.

Last Saturday, across the river, in this county, an enraged horse attacked and bit a boy; the son of Mr. Humphreys, nearly to death. The boy, aged about 17, went out on the prairie to catch his own horse, which was in the herd, and as he approached the herd a strange horse attacked him, and he threw an ear of corn at him, but the horse came on and grabbed him by the hand, tore it to pieces, and also his arm in several places was bitten. While the horse was biting the boy the boy’s own horse ran in between them and cut the other horse off. Citizens came then and killed the enraged animal.-Freestone [Tex.] Gazette.
