Fearful Encounter With a Bull.

Mr. John Wilson, a man of sixty-four years of age, living in the town of Serena, had a narrow escape from being gored to death by a young bull, on the morning of the 19th ult. Going into his cow yard, the bull made a rush at him, and threw him down with his horns two or three times, when Mr. W. managed to grasp him by one of his fore legs, and by a desperate exertion threw him down. He then caught him by the nose, and by main strength held him flat on the side. He then drew a jack knife from his pocket, but dared not release his hold upon the bull while he opened it. A young lady living in the family having heard him call, just then appeared and opened the knife, and with this, although it was quite dull, Mr. W. cut the enraged animals throat. It was a narrow escape, and but few men would have had the nerve and good management to get out of so bad a scrape so easily. But, as the Scotch engineer said of the bull and locomotive, it was “bad for the bull.”-[Ottawa Rep.
