Escapes From Butcher Shop and Flies in Horses Face to Avoid Capture.
A game rooster of the Philipino breed ran amuck from a local butcher shop, this morning and the fact that there are no fatalities is deemed a miracle. This game rooster was to be placed on the guillotine today and not being prepared to cross the shadowy vale he escaped from his would-be executioners and started on a run up south Genesee street.
One man with more bravery, than was given to the rest of the witnesses tried to stop the rooster before he did any damage. The fugitive in trying to escape his wild clutch flew straight into the face of a horse that was standing there. The horse being raised in the city and unused to the fighting of game cocks started to run away from his tormentor. The horse ran but a few steps when it was stopped just a few feet from an approaching street car.
The rooster as soon as the horse started to run took a firm hold on the collar of the harness and was still astride the horse when it was stopped. Seeing this ancient enemy, man, about to grab him the rooster with a loud cackle flew from the horse’s back and when last seen was streaking it across the vacant lot at the corner of Water street only pausing now and then to give a loud crow of defiance to his pursuers.
