Wagon Smashed and Two Horses Belonging to Bert Stevens Killed at Spring Grove in Fierce Dash of Two frightened Animals Down Road to structure.
A serious accident happened in Spring Grove Saturday which cost the lives of two valuable horses belonging to Bert Stevens.
The affair was a double runaway. A team belonging to William Watts had been left with a boy holding them. He dropped the lines and the horses became frightened and started to run.
They frightened the Stevens team, which was standing near, and they started off at a mad pace. After going a little distance they left the road and dashed through the side of a frame coal shed, smashing several two-by-fours and the siding.
The wagon was smashed and both horses were killed. The back of one and the neck of the other were broken. The team was a valuable one, worth about $300. and it is quite a loss to Mr. Stevens.
