On Friday night of last week, as Mr. George K. Adams was driving along State Street in a road cart, with his two children, a girl 9 years old; and a boy 12 years old, when opposite Col. Crocket’s place the horse shied at something in the road, and threw Mr. Adams over against the wheel. The girl screamed and he thought she was caught in the wheel, and he caught on the other wheel and hung to it for life. The boy reached the reins but could reach only one the other being down. He pulled on the one he could get hold of, and by this means pulled the horse into the fence and stopped him. Neither of the children were injured, but Mr. Adams injuries are quite serious. One side of his limb was badly scraped, his side and shoulder was bruised and scraped and his knee badly wrenched. Had it not been for the courage of the little boy, the injuries might have been much more serious.
