Mad Ram Tramples Mrs. T. J. Stahl; Breaks Her Limb.

She Fought Off Furious Animal With Slipper Until Neighbors Came To Her Rescue.

Her Injuries Are Serious.

After an infuriated ram had broken her right leg, Mrs. T. J. Stahl, today fought off the animal with her slipper until neighbors could arrive to drive the animal away and thus probably owes her life to the fact that the slipper fell from her foot when she was knocked down.

The ram, which weighs more than 200 pounds, became infuriated after Mrs. Stahl, wife of the president of the T. J. Stahl Real Estate company, had taken pictures of Eleanor Moore and other children among the herd of sheep of which the ram was the leader.

Eleanor’s mother, Mrs. O. L. Moore, was unable to drive the ram away and summoned neighbors.

The accident occurred at the Keith farm, north of Waukegan, where Mr. Stahl had the sheep preparatory to taking them to Sextonia farm, which he recently purchased. Mr. Stahl had just bought the ram, which appeared gentle and was the pet of the flock.

Mrs. Stahl had taken a dozen snapshots before the ram went on the rampage. The bones of her leg, just above the ankle, was shattered.

On her knees Mrs. Stahl grasped the ram by the head and held it away until the arrival of Mrs. Frank White and Frank Menz, neighbors. Mr. Maz drove the ram away.

Mrs. Stahl was removed to her home in the White & Tobin ambulance. The bone of her leg being shattered, Mrs. Stahl suffered much pain last night and today. An X-ray was taken this morning.
