Fort Sheridan, Sept. 24-A threatened invasion of Fort Sheridan by an army of pigs today reached the ears of the wealthy residents of the North Shore and caused much agitation. The pigs may be sent under the Hoover plan to absorb the garbage. The amount thrown away each day would feed a regiment of pigs, says Captain W. P. Moffett, chief mess officer.
In the region affected are the estates of Louis F. Swift, E. A. Cudahy, J. Ogden Armour, Arther Meeker and other wealthy packers, besides the homes of Cyrus McCormick, David Forgan, James Forgan and others.
    But “Pigs is Pigs.”
North Shore residents declare that “pigs is pigs,” no matter whether they reside in the stock yards or in the region of Lake Forest and Highland Park. They point out that pigs cannot be made to bathe and go into quarters like soldiers or rookie student officers.
But Captain Moffett, who is mostly concerned with the disposal of garbage, and the Hoover commission, that is deeply concerned over the conservation of anything of value, have almost completed plans for the pig invasion.
The plans of the commission even go to the extent of considering asking the North Shore residents to turn over their garbage to the pig army. From the manner in which the news was received there is a probability that the North Shore will prefer to keep its invasion of the region by pigs.
