Two carloads of cattle bound for the stock yards were burned to death or shot to end their sufferings following a train wreck at Cary, Ill., thirty miles from Chicago, Sunday night. Two men were slightly injured.
A milk train on the Northwestern railroad, running ten miles an hour, struck the stock train, which was standing. The caboose and two cattle cars were derailed and caught fire from the caboose stove.
Policemen and deputy sheriffs from Cary accompanied their fire department to the scene and with their pistols ended the bellowing of the dying steers, which could be heard a mile away.
