Zion City People Loose Geese, Calves, Dogs, and a Horse Result of Errant Rabid Canine.
Bart Tyrrell Shoots Dog.
Either a case of more mad dogs or of the same errant one that caused the loss through rabies of cattle at Gurnee, Wadsworth, Russell, Yorkhouse and Zion City, people has suffered a mad dog scare also, and five or six farmers have lost six calves, seven geese and one horse.
The calves went in lots of 3 and had to be killed off after having been bitten by a mad dog, this indeed being the complaint that led to the death of all the domestic animals.
It is estimated that the recent mad dog scare in this county has cost the people close to $2,000, divided as follows:
    Four horses.
    Eight hogs.
    Six calves.
    Seven geese.
    Three cows.
    Dozens of dogs.
    One man bitten.
Scores of other cases of animals bitten.
Bart Tyrrel this morning shot a supposedly mad dog near his place on Belvidere street, observing the animal biting at trees and snapping at everything he passed.
