Louis Miller Taken To Chicago Wednesday Night-To Take Treatment.
Gurnee, Ill., Oct. 3.-Louis Miller, of Lamb’s Corners, was rushed to Chicago Wednesday night to take treatment at the Pasteur Institute.
Miller was badly bitten by a dog last Sunday. The dog was shot and his head was taken to Chicago for examination. The chief chemist at the Pasteur Institute reported that the dog was suffering from hydrophobia and suggested that Mr. Miller take treatment at the institute. Mr. Miller will spend a week or ten days in Chicago. The dog was the property of a farm hand employed by George Martin of Gurnee.
Sunday the dog started on a rampage, and after killing a number of cats, invaded the yard of Mr. Miller. Before Miller could escape he was badly bitten on the right hand.
Every cat in the neighborhood will be shot before sundown today-“We do not propose to take any chances,” said one farmer.
The dog bit a number of cats, and we cannot tell just which ones were bitten, so we have decided to murder every cat in the neighborhood.
Eleven cats were shot this morning, and it is expected that as many more will be killed before sun-down.
