A few days ago a valuable setter dog belonging to George Hallowell, in yawning, got its jaws set and despite all efforts to close its mouth the animal could do nothing. Mr. Hallowell tried in vain to alleviate the trouble and as a last resort took the beast to McKillop’s veterinary college, Chicago.
The dog with its wide-open mouth was taken before the class and the doctors worked upon it but in vain. Finally they gave up and prepared to end the dog’s sufferings.
A student asked for a trial and in a moment he had the dogs jaws unlocked and the animal seemed as well as if nothing had occurred.
The student was given an ovation by the others and the professors congratulated him upon his work.
And Mr. Hallowell, highly elated, brought the dog home where it is now a thing of interest, because, according to statements of the faculty, it had the distinction of being the first canine with such an affliction to ever come before them for treatment
