Accident, Horses.

As Francis Porter, Jr., and a mason named Tompkins, were riding up North Avenue, in this city, last Tuesday evening, their horse became frightened at some sheep that were lying by the side of the road, and turning short, upset the carriage, throwing both gentlemen to the ground. The horse started upon a run and dragged the carriage after him for some distance with the unfortunate man Tompkins under it. At lenth he succeeded in extricating himself from beneath the vehicle, not however, until one of his legs had been broken in two places. Mr. Porter escaped with a few bruises, but failed to overtake the horse which ran some distance into the country and was brought to this city the following morning by the McAree boys, who captured him near their place.
