At the Janesville, Wis., fair, recently held, a sewing machine was presented to the lady receiving the most ballots as the “boss” girl. The prize was the gift of George W. Peck, of the Sun, and was awarded to Miss Maggie Inman. The lady is probably entitled to the prize as she once killed a den of wolves, took their scalps to the county seat and claimed the bounty “like a man.” Recently she entered a quarter of a section of land in Dakota. She is said to be a thoroughly sensible young lady and a good housekeeper.
