An elephant belonging to Barnum’s circus refused to cross a bridge at Troy, N. Y., one night last week and, being punished, ran away. Considerable trouble followed, the animal, attracted by the strong light, dashing into the hot mills and burning it’s feet badly on the hot iron. He finally ran out of town to an oat-field and was captured next morning.
