Switch Engine Backs in on Side Track and Takes Horses Away.
A Sterling man, owner of a fine driving team, has had one of the greatest experiences on record. Driving to one of of the town factories he had occasion to alight and go into the office. Having no better place, he hitched his team to a car loaded with poles that stood on a sidetrack. While he was in the factory the switching engine came along, backed a string of cars on the switch, hooked on to the car of poles and started for Nelson. One of the factory hands working at a window took in the situation at a glance. Dashing out of the door, he drew a knife from his pocket as he ran. He cut the strap at one swish, and the badly frightened team was liberated.
